MATHS AND SCIENCE

Dear Parents,

It’s the start of another term and students are working very enthusiastically on different tasks. As before, I will try my best to effectively implement the curriculum planned for this term. I will continue assessing the impact of these learning tasks, and adjust them to suit individual students’ needs so that they can reach their maximum potential.

In Term 3, Year 7 Maths students are studying three units; Algebra, Measurement & Linear Equations. Towards the end of the term for three weeks, they will extend their knowledge by working on a project about measurement. Year 8 Maths students are learning the units of Measurement & Linear Graph. For Science, Year 7/8 students will learn about plant and animal cells, parts of the cell and their functions. For Research Science, students are studying about Earth & Astronomy. For Forensic Science, students will learn about Chromatography, ink and handwriting analysis. They will apply all the principles they learn throughout this term to a fictional crime scene. For the last two weeks of term 3 students will learn about Ballistics.
